19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of that year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.
He defended 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
